For this edition of Kong, Richard Orlinski chose a glossy black finish that highlights the muscularity of his iconic sculpture. Like a trophy, Kong brandishes above his head a vibrant red heart, a faceted heart cut like a jewel, a heart of exceptional size compared to the gorilla's torso, a voluminous heart charged with hope and desire.
With this sublimated heart, Kong reminds us that nothing is more precious than love. Slightly inclined, carefully clasped between the gorilla's hands, the red heart is animated by a play of light and shadow.
The sculptor created this work in homage to the film King Kong, in which the muscular gorilla falls in love with a young woman whom he takes to the top of a skyscraper.
Wiggling on his bent legs, this amorous Kong looks ready to dance.
